If You Give Kids a Book, Chances Are…

National Reading Month — A Celebration

March was a month-long celebration of stories & reading for us at Sonnets Academy. Through literacy and storytelling, young learners gain new tools to express themselves, share and communicate with others, and understand the world around them. We believe that sparking excitement about reading through celebration and purposeful play is the key to unlocking early literacy.

Did you know… most two year olds have a favorite book? During National Reading Month we got to dress up like our favorite character and share the story with our friends!

Guest Readers

For National Reading Month, we had some amazing special guest readers join our classrooms to share their favorite stories, and we had so much fun enjoying the stories that were shared. Thank you to all our families that spent time with us!

books, books, BOOKS!

This month was all about…BOOKS! We read our favorite books, shared books with friends, and explored new stories across all the ages! When you give kids a book, chances are their imaginations and love for learning will grow.

Kickstarting Early Literacy Skills

Over in our infant and toddler classrooms, we worked on on igniting early literacy through:

  1. Rhymes & Repetition

  2. Singing Songs

  3. Turning Pages

  4. Puppet Shows

SONNETS ACADEMY’s PLAY-BASED CURRICULUM

Our early learning curriculum begins at early infancy and continues through prekindergarten, concentrating on the process through which children learn. Discovery-based play expands imagination, encourages sense of wonder and provides a diverse and comprehensive foundation for cognitive, social, emotional and creative growth that will shape their adolescence and adulthood.
