I Spy with My Little Eye...

Exploring Through the Eyes of a Child

Early childhood focuses on nurturing a child’s curiosity and excitement for learning while they begin to understand the world around them. This month, we turned the curiosity of our every day experiences, and the questions formed from those moments, into a little game of “I Spy!” The theme provided our educators with opportunities to engage with the children and see through the eyes of a child while they built connections and reached developmental milestones.

“We’re going on a bear hunt…” While enjoying an early childhood classic, a simple scavenger hunt can boost observation skills and help children to develop early learning skills in a fun, relaxed, and natural way!

Building Skills

While enjoying a fun sensory activity, we engage our friends by asking questions such as, “Can you find an orange ball?”, “What can you see that is large and round?”, or “What says ‘beep’?” to build our skills in:

  • Color Identification

  • Visual Perception

  • Sound Thinking Skills

  • Cause-and-Effect Relationships

CELEBRATIONS!

May was an important month for our mothers AND our teachers! We enjoyed expressing our love and appreciation for these very special people during our Mother’s Day events and Teacher Appreciation Week.

Cruising the Neighborhood

Our outdoor experiences ramped up this month with all the beautiful weather, allowing the infants to get acquainted with our neighborhoods and our preschoolers to continue exploring the world around them —all while making stops at all our favorite places along the way.

SONNETS ACADEMY’s PLAY-BASED CURRICULUM

Our early learning curriculum begins at early infancy and continues through prekindergarten, concentrating on the process through which children learn. Discovery-based play expands imagination, encourages sense of wonder and provides a diverse and comprehensive foundation for cognitive, social, emotional and creative growth that will shape their adolescence and adulthood.
